Property
Clear, flammable, volatile liquid with fruit fragrance. Specific gravity: 0.902, Melting point: -83 ℃, Boiling point: 77 ℃. Refraction rate: 1.3719, Flash point (in open cup): 7.2 ℃. Soluble in water, chloroform, ethanol, acetone and aether. Could form azeotrope with some solvent.
Use
An important, widely used organic chemical raw material, mainly used in the production of: paint, bondant, ethyl cellulose, leatherette, oiling pad colorant, rayon, etc. as solvent; Printing ink as bondant; As solvent in organic chemical reactions.
Safety
Slightly toxic. High vapor concentrations can cause irritation to eyes and respiration system and may lead to anesthesia. The maximum concentration allowable for operator is 300 ppm.
Highly flammable. Vapors can form explosive mixture with air. Ignition and high temperature may cause fire and explosion. It can react severely with oxidizing agent. Vapors may accumulate in low areas and travel a considerable distance to a source of ignition and flash back.
